What is the HHS Mandate?

In January, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a mandate requiring all employer health plans to include free contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs, regardless of any moral or
religious objections. Catholic universities and hospitals will be forced by the federal government to provide services that directly contradict Church teaching.

The HHS Mandate is an unprecedented assault on religious freedom and must be opposed!
The Nationwide Rally for Religious Freedom is a joint project of the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.

  1. My brother would like to attend a rally there on June 8th. We see no listing and wonder if anything is planned there this time?
Thank you for your hard work keeping sanity in the world.

  2. There is zero chance that the Obama Administration will resrvee their policy. Abortion is a sacrament of the death cult known as Political Correctness. This is because there is nothing the world view prizes more than perfect freedom from all moral constraint, and because the most perfect symbol of absolute arbitrary freedom from moral restrain is to force the Holy Church to pay for killing the innocent babies in the womb, thus making the guilt collective, unless it were to cloak the crime under the rhetoric of liberty and compassion for the sick.I fear the Catholic institutions will cave, but I hope they will resist on principle. I assume that the true point of the exercise is to force the Church out of the public square.I note that if she caves, the enemy can then accuse her of hypocrisy, or if not, the Church can be demonized and marginalized, forced further from the public square, and then be accused of irrelevance and anachronism. The purpose of the Devil is to accuse, accuse, accuse. I mention the Devil only because I cannot by any effort of imagination imagine what human purpose for any human faction, party, or individual this whole charade of using health care laws to penalize Catholics has. It is not as if the baby-killers and fornicators and the whole cult of sterile sex maniacs cannot buy insurance elsewhere for their condoms and abortifacients, or pay for their own doctors, or go to the freaking corner pharmacy, or work for employers who have no Christian scruples. It is not as if the USA did not have the best health care system in history anywhere on the globe before Obamacare. It is not as if anyone voted for this HHS mandate. It is not as if anyone in Congress actually read the bill giving HHS the authority to make such a ruling. No one was talking about this, or wanted it, or was agitating for it. It is not as if there was some public demand or constituency that will now vote Democrat because they stayed awake nights wondering how to get Catholics to fund contraception and abortifacients. The whole matter is senseless. That is, an explanation for this behavior on the part of Obama and the Dems makes no sense if we only take into account worldly things and worldly motives. There is something supernatural in this: it is too odd otherwise. So at the risk of sounding like a Christian, I must confess I see a hellish motive behind all this.
