First put out the fire

I like this firefighter t-shirt. Guess we have one to put out ourselves.

Cool firefighter t-shirt. Guess we have one to put out ourselves.

Check this quote out and see what you think:

The right is so split, if a politician is too centrist, he loses the Christian right, if he’s ‘too Christian’, he loses the middle. The net effect is that we have LOST THE ENTIRE COUNTRY to a bunch of Socialists who are hell bent on destroying her.
(Tom O’Halloran, “A Bold Step Back”)

Sounds like we need to Join, or Die. AGAIN.

I can’t remember exactly how the saying goes, but it’s something like “If the house is burning, first put out the fire, then (do whatever else).” I think even the President has used this expression. We are all noticing the smell of smoke from the punch-drunk left making bonfires out of money not even earned yet. But since they control the presidency and both houses of Congress, they’re flaming us with preposterous proposals and legislation on so many fronts we’re getting dizzy trying to keep up with it. Our first real opportunity to open a fire hose on this will be Nov. 2010.

Leading up to then, our path in District 17 is clear. To continue overdoing the fire metaphor ;-), we have an absolute pyro as our representative. It is our responsibility to do everything we can to send this man to a happy retirement on the beach or by the pool, a tall glass of tea in hand to sip and reminisce of the days before he decided to go along with the looting and ransacking of the country–and voters got wise to his voting record.

join-or-die-againFrom the three-step agenda I proposed earlier, here’s Step 1:

We must influence who the next District 17 candidate will be.

A Conservative with fiscally-sound principles will only be picked if we put all other legitimate, and even serious, differences aside. Whatever the issues most important to you—abortion, 2nd amendment rights, homeland security, culture issues, energy policy, immigration—we’ll lose the ability to effectively address any of them if we don’t get people in office who know they’re gone if they don’t listen to us. This can be done either with millions of dollars, which Chet Edwards has, or with a unified group of organized voters—which we are becoming!

Getting a conservative representative for District 17 must be Job 1. Nothing else can be done until we break the left’s monopoly in government. We have the numbers. Do we have the will? Grab a water bucket and let’s do this thing!!

  1. Christopher Morgan says:

Well said. I ask though, haven’t we gone too far to just need a conservative voice who preaches the same story but can’t stand up with in comes – cuttin’ time? If I were running, it would be on a platform of REPEAL. Repeal every unconstitutional piece of legislation, repeal the income tax and don’t replace it with anything, choking the Federal Government’s lifeline out, abolishing the FED, etc, etc, etc. WAKE UP PEOPE!

  2. My question for Christopher Morgan would be this: “Why aren’t you running?” Most county level representatives (called Justices of the Peace in Arkansas) and City Council members only serve a few nights a month. There is also your local school board. What about an election commissioner? County Judge, Mayor…

Don’t forget there are a lot of other positions you could be running for. How about the President of your local professional group, or Rotary, or Kiwanas, or Lions Club, or VFW, or American Legion, or Chamber of Commerce, or County Farm Bureau?

Then there are positions in your chosen party, Republican, Democrat, or whatever. You get the point.

This is where almost all politicians start. This is where you could be making the most difference.

Go for it Christopher! Go! WAKE UP CHRISTOPHER! Go! Run for something.

  3. Well it’s been 3.5 years since this article was written, we successfully replaced Chet Edwards with Bill Flores, and the house is still burning. Flores broke his “Cut, Cap, Balance Pledge,” he voted to raise the debt ceiling and created a doomed and unconstitutional Supercommittee, he voted for an unconstititional balanced budget amendment, he sides with Obama on the indefinite detainment provisions of National Defense Authorization Act, and he refuses to initiate impeachment on the President or Eric Holder. Regarding, the B/CS Tea Party’s three-step agenda to win, step one was met – we influenced who the next CD 17 Representative would be. Step two was met – we helped get Bill Flores elected. But step three was not met – we did not hold him accountable to Constitutional principles. The B/CS Tea Party has, at every turn, found a way to justify continued support for Congressman Flores despite his consistent disregard for Constitutional constructionism. By recommending another Bill Flores term, the B/CS Tea Party has proven its advocation for Eifa Ve’Eifa – and therefore politics before principle.

    • You don’t know the depths of our agreement on holding Rep. Flores as well as the rest of our elected officials accountable to constitutional conservative principles. For generations no one has held elected officials accountable to the Constitution, which gets us to this age where elected officials are not only completely ignorant of the Constitution, but of the fundamental principles of conservatism. The solution route the B/CS Tea Party has chosen is first one of Teaching – we teach a basic class on the Constitution, we have taught the philosophy and founding principles as stated in the Declaration of Independence, as well as studying important Federalist Paper articles. Those individuals who have studied with us are not fooled by poseur constitutionalists or conservatives. Therefore, as we increase our numbers, the age of poseur constitutional conservative candidates and elected officials will naturally decrease.

I assure you that none of our currently elected officials believe the B/CS Tea Party is pleased with their work on behalf of the people, but not discomfited enough to actually learn what we know about the Constitution or the principles laid out in The Federalist Papers.

So, rather than as the saying goes, “annoying the pig by trying to teach him to sing”, the B/CS Tea Party has stayed focused on increasing our number by teaching the grassroots the principles of our founding documents. Our “graduates” now know that quick fix post-it-note kind of talking points such as “Cut, Cap, and Balance” and the “Balanced Budget Amendment” only continue the current unconstitutional lawlessness. B/CS Tea Party “graduates” are aware of the power and authority maintained by We The People through the Constitution and are no longer deceived by lawless Supreme Court Justices or the abdicated constitutional power of each member of Congress. Therefore, our graduates are currently organizing in readiness for the next state legislative session to call for NULLIFICATION and application of the 10th Amendment to stop ObamaCare and Federal, as well as United Nation, intrusion.

We wholeheartedly invite all members of the Libertarian Party to first join in this education process – strength comes from sharing the same foundation – and then join with the B/CS Tea Party to defend and promote these principles in the upcoming legislative session. I hope that this answer is a complete refutation of your charge which was made in ignorance of our hard work and methodology. Further, now that you are aware of our purposeful activities, I am sure that you can see the radical nature – as in the true sense of the word – to get to the root, the fundamentals of the issue in order to bring about change – of the B/CS Tea Party. Please contact me about joining our soon to start 3rd offering of The Constitution In 10 Lessons or for creating a class for Libertarian Party members.

  4. Thank you for your response, Ms Coppock. I agree with your assertion that none of our currently elected officials believes the B/CS Tea Party is pleased with their work on behalf of the people. But as long as the threat to power remains nothing more than an expression of displeasure, liberty will not prevail. “When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.” Admittedly, I do not know the depths of your agreements with Rep. Flores, but is there tyranny or is there liberty?

  5. As a purged “thought criminal”, my understanding and appreciation of Liberty is very deep water. Indeed, I would be hesitant to say that any man who lives in a nation in which those passing the charity collection plate while also controlling the judiciary and military actually live in any definition of Liberty. Likewise the fear of speaking and then acting in accordance to your own conscience that is in direct conflict with legislation or rules for obtaining Federal Money puts your Liberty to worship God AND keep your employment position in jeopardy. Without this kind of Liberty of conscience, there is NO liberty, but a growing state of tyranny and oppression. I know these things from experience. I work everyday to open the eyes of this community to the reality of life in oppression and tyranny in real terms.

Please do not let my mentioning of God keep you from appreciating the depths of true Liberty. Consider instead: “What would be the future of a community whose citizens’, through fear of gov’t, act in opposition to their conscience?”. That, my friend is a terrifying thought. For this cause I am a purged “thought criminal”.

Please join the B/CS Tea Party in our upcoming legislative agenda of nullification and application of the 10th Amendment in the Texas Legislature.

I also encourage you to join or host one of our Constitution in 10 Lessons classes.
